What’s new on Disney+ in December 2023

While we don’t necessarily want to look a gift horse in the mouth, Disney+ is making some baffling programming choices in December. As much as we’re looking forward to the second season of Marvel Studios’ What If? animated series, the decision to blow off nine episodes daily is shocking. 2024 is bound to be light on scripted shows and movies because of the twin Hollywood strikes, and Disney+ could have gotten nine weeks of programming out of What If? season 2.

Regardless, December is going to be a very active month on Disney+, and that should make subscribers very happy. The season 2 finale of Tim Allen’s The Santa Clauses is one of the highlights, as are three new specials for Doctor Who, the streaming debut of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and a brand new original series for Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Our roundup of everything new on Disney+ in December 2023 can be found below, with our favorites highlighted in bold.

What’s new on Hulu in December and what’s leaving soon
Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Hulu has more than a few gifts for action lovers this holiday season. And we can't wait to unwrap our presents to see the original Matrix trilogy again, (but not the fourth film, The Matrix Resurrections, which is better off ignored). Two of the biggest titles coming to Hulu this month are Crazy Rich Asians and director Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The 12th and final season of the Canadian comedy series Letterkenny will also arrive later this month to mark the end of an era. There will also be new episodes this month for FX's Fargo season 5.

The best shows on Disney+ right now (November 2023)
Catherine Tate and David Tennant in Doctor Who: The Star Beast.

For November, Disney+ is turning to a surprising source for its flagship show of the month: Doctor Who. Of course, it wasn't that surprising to anyone who saw the industry news when Disney and BBC announced that deal last year. The first Doctor Who 60th anniversary special is coming on November 25, but at least three more specials this year are to be followed by season 14 in 2024.

This month also has the second seasons of two Disney+ original series: The Santa Clauses and Behind the Attraction. But if you missed last month's standout Marvel show, you can always use the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to catch up on Marvel Studios' Loki.
